Julie Lyn Barber is a Canadian singer, actor & educator based in the U.S. Midwest, where she is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre & Dance at Western Kentucky University. She has performed, directed, music directed and choreographed at venues across Canada and the U.S. including Vancouver’s Theatre Under the Stars, Oregon’s Portland Center Stage and Indianapolis’ Phoenix Theatre. Over the past fifteen years her focus has been on family and all aspects of musical and theatrical production in East Central Indiana. This has included roles like “Gertrude” in Hamlet with the Richmond Shakespeare Festival, singing Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, and producing and playwriting for IndyFringe and The Nettle Creek Players. Each summer her family band tours Indiana State Parks as The Hot Jazz Family Band. She holds degrees from Ball State University, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and the University of British Columbia.
